Our History

People tend to travel distances for a variety of reasons. However, traveling long distances in order to receive advanced, personalized healthcare should not be included in the list of reasons to travel. With this kind of predicament and because of the persistent urging of loyal patients of Dra. Eulenia Nolasco at the Manila Doctors Hospital, UP-PGH, Asian Hospital and Medical Center, as well as their families and friends from Sto. Tomas, Tanauan City, Talisay and Lipa City, all in Batangas for years, she set her heart on building a hospital in Batangas to cater to people in the Southern Tagalog and beyond.

Simply, the Santo Tomas location is the ideal place. This first-class town borders Lipa City to the south, Calamba and Los Baños to the northeast, Alaminos to the east, and the towns of Tanauan and Malvar to the west. It is the ideal location for providing convenient access to exceptional healthcare services that the group wanted to give to Batangas and its neighboring towns.

The lot acquisition was not as easy as they hoped, but with the combined efforts Dra Nolasco and Gen Eliseo Rasco and the negotiation skills and charisma of the other people involved – Dr. Roberto de Leon, Dr Felix Nolaso and and banker Mr. Rob Manalo, the group has finally been successful in acquiring the lot. The untiring efforts of the whole core group members paid off.

With the acquisition of the lot, Dra Nolasco’s crusade for establishing a hospital in Batangas, assisted by Dra Maita Cruz, a local doctor from Batangas and Laguna, has caught momentum, with the support of husbands Dr Felix Nolasco and Dr John Cruz. Dra Nolasco was soon able to form her Asian Hospital group of doctors while Dra Cruz rallied a team of doctors who all hail from or practice in Batangas. They aspired to establish a medical institution where most of the founders call Batangas their home.

We are astonished and humbled to see the wonderful things that are all coming to fruition because a committed group of people, a community of caregivers, staff and supporters have joined efforts. Finally, with its incorporation papers approved by SEC, the Santo Tomas Doctors Hospital and Medical Center Inc. (STDHMCI) was born on March 5, 2018.
